Backpack Program Grows

IMG_8714Toni’s Kitchen is using the simple backpack to make a large impact against hunger in our community.  We are packing and distributing hundreds of backpacks each week to local programs that reach people in need.  One of the ways we distribute backpacks is through a local tutoring program for low-income families that supplies food to students.  Students taking part in this weekly program receive a backpack full of nutritious staples that they can use to make meals throughout the week.  Each backpack contains healthy food and snacks like apple sauce, peanut butter, tuna, raisins, and grains (breads and oatmeal). We are inviting people to donate directly to the backpack program:

     — You can sponsor a backpack for a week for $12
     — You can sponsor a backpack for a month for $48
     — You can sponsor a backpack for a year for $624

If you’re interested in sponsoring a backpack, please e-mail us at toniskitchen@gmail.com.   You can also go to the donation page at our website and choose “Backpack Donation” under “Gift Donation” to make sure that your donation goes to support this program.

Below is a list of items that we will be using regularly in the backpacks.  If you would like to donate any of these items, you can drop them off at Toni’s Kitchen during our regular hours:  Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm and Sunday from 4 pm to 6 pm.
