It’s summertime, and the living is easy–for some. As we look forward to summer camp, flip-flops and warm sand, Toni’s Kitchen will also be thinking about families in our community. It is in these warm restorative months that hunger often moves in. The end of the academic year brings a bit more stress for low income parents – child care costs, the end of school lunch, and the challenge of keeping academic progress current. Healthy food can play a key role in keeping children healthy and growing all summer long.
This summer Toni’s Kitchen will do more food work than ever before. We will partner with the YMCA, tutoring groups, Montclair Public Library and summer camps to keep children learning and growing. Fresh, nutritious food at camps, and backpacks of good food to take home, strengthen families. Children learn, laugh, and play in programs that are strong, effective and safe. Check the Toni’s Kitchen website and social media to see the impact of this work all summer long!
