Thanks to Jack and Jill For Their “Day of Service” at Toni’s Kitchen

Carole Robertson logoOn Saturday, September 27, the Essex County Chapter of the Jack and Jill of America organization volunteered at Toni’s Kitchen as part of their Day of Service.  There were about 60 volunteers helping us prepare and serve meals to our guests.  Thanks to Jack and Jill for their efforts!

Jack and Jill of America is a membership organization of mothers with children ages 2-19, dedicated to nurturing future African-American leaders by strengthening children through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving and civic duty.

Saturday marked the Carole Robertson Day of Service for Jack and Jill, dedicated to the memory of Carole Robertson, who was killed on September 15, 1963, along with three other young victims, when her church was bombed by members of the Ku Klux Klan in Birmingham, Alabama. Their tragic deaths led to more support for the Civil Rights Movement.
